Hi, I’m Bob.
Tools by Bob is where I compare software for small teams and solo business owners — project management apps, design tools, marketing software, security tools, and the other subscriptions that quietly pile up when you run a small business.
Why this site exists
Most “best tools” lists are long, vague, and written to sell you the most expensive plan. I want to do the opposite: lay out the trade-offs clearly so you can pick the tool that fits your team size, budget, and the way you actually work — and skip the ones that don’t.
How I review tools
I explain how I evaluated each tool. Each comparison spells out the criteria I used — pricing, ease of use, features that matter for small teams, and support.
I say which parts come from hands-on use and which come from research. When I haven’t used a tool myself, I say so and rely on official documentation, pricing pages, and public user feedback.
I point out the downsides. Every tool has trade-offs, and I’d rather you know them before you pay.
I keep things up to date. Prices and features change, so I revisit articles and note when information was checked.
How this site makes money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes which tool I recommend — if a tool isn’t a good fit, I’ll say so, affiliate link or not.
